nothing lasts, nothing is finished, and nothing is perfect

WABI-SABI
"...asymmetry, asperity (roughness or irregularity), simplicity, economy, austerity, modesty, intimacy and appreciation of the ingenuous integrity of natural objects and processes."

Last weekend was full of cottage goodness.
Friday night fish fry at JR's.
A typical auction full of vintage wonderment and magnificent crap.
And an afternoon exploring the woods by myself.

Yes, I'm fully charged now and ready for my process to continue.

artropolis 2011 | part 2

TAKE A LOOK at a few more shots from the International Antiques Fair at Artropolis.

This booth was one of my favorites. Perfect styling.
Another view of the booth (above).
This booth had some of my favorite items from the entire show.
(And not just because of the antlers.)
Sweet little curiosities.
I stared at her for a long, long time. It was the fire and
nothingness in her eyes that kept me.
Matching yellow lamps paired with black shades. Sigh.
Beautiful graphic work by Alexandre Hogue.

This booth was full of gorgeous icons but to me, these two were most unique.
My mother in law's booth. My favorite. Of course.

Candy and lace.

mother's day

TODAY WAS PERFECT.
And I finally made a succulent garden.

FRIDAY NIGHT was the opening of Monica Canilao's show "What's Lost Is Safe" at Sky High in Bay View. Monica has the confidence and vision to do things I've only dreamed of. She is magic. And thank you Faythe Levine for bringing her to our city.

artropolis 2011 | part 1

MASTER BEDROOM LINEN HUTCH

And yes, those are vintage boxing gloves hanging above.
A suiting personal metaphor.

I bought the grey farm hutch for $60 on the side of the road several years ago.
It is known around our house as "the grey thing".
